It’s hard to imagine that a cat meeting you for the first time would insist upon jumping into your lap or climbing onto your shoulder, but that’s the case with our Charlie. He simply adores people, and will you pay attention to him immediately, thank you very much. Charlie is a large male of a beautiful solid gray color; we estimate he was born in November of 2006.

This guy has had a difficult life, so his attitude toward people is all the more amazing. He was living outside for some time, but we don’t know how long. He is FIV+ and diabetic, and he is missing his left eye. Obviously, he’s one of our Special Needs crew. Charlie must eat diabetic-safe canned and/or dry food (luckily, neither is difficult to find in this day and age), and he receives insulin twice a day (that must continue for the foreseeable future).

For all that he loves humans, Charlie tends to be a bully around other cats (part of that stems from the fact that he wants all of the human attention for himself). He’s very active, as well. He would probably be OK in a multiple-cat household if the owners are experienced in feline caretaking; alternatively, he’d be fine as an “only” cat in a home.

Not everyone can take in a Special Needs feline. But if you’re in a position to do so, don’t miss this big gray love bug!
