According to the American Humane Association
- Only 17 percent of lost dogs and two percent of
lost cats find their way back to their owners.
- Almost 4 million pets are euthanized annually because their owners can't be found.
In celebration of our fifh anniversary, Tabby's Place is going to give back to the community by helping to increase the number of pets that are returned to loving homes. Read the amazing story that led us to hold this event.
On Sunday October 5, 2008 (our actual anniversary date) from 10:00 - 4:00, we will be holding a low-cost "Microchip Clinic".
What is a Microchip Clinic?
At our Microchip Clinic we will offer reduced-price microchip implantation to members of
the public for their dogs or cats.
Implantation takes only a minute or two, is virtually painless and will be done by a
licensed New Jersey veterinarian using
HomeAgain®
microchips.
What is a Microchip?
A microchip is a tiny integrated circuit placed under the skin of your dog or cat.
Each microchip, which is about the size of a grain of rice, contains a unique number that
is used to identify your pet in the event he or she is lost.
The number is recorded in HomeAgain's nation-wide database.
How much will it cost?
The cost at your veterinarian will likely range from $35 to $85.
We will charge $25 per dog or cat.
Any profts from this event will go to help Tabby's Place carry out its mission of
saving cats from hopeless situations.
In addition, you will pay a one-time fee of $14.99 for lifetime registration of your pet
in HomeAgain's database. This fee is paid directly to HomeAgain, who will be present at
the event.
(Note that the registration fee must also be paid by you if your vet does the
implantation.)
Why should I microchip my indoors-only cat?
Because "indoors-only" cats sometimes sneak outside and get lost.

recent press release for an excellent example.
